REGINALD “REGGIE” HARRISON

Reginald “Reggie” Harrison was appointed Deputy City Manager of the City of Long Beach in February 2001. In this capacity he reports directly to the City Manager of the 5th largest City in California. Reggie has over 20 years of experience in municipal governance, having worked for the cities of San Diego and Carlsbad before joining the City of Long Beach in 1996.
As the Deputy City Manager, Reggie has oversight for many of the City’s service delivery departments. He is also responsible for the implementation of the City’s economic development strategies to create jobs, retain and grow local businesses and attract new businesses to the City of Long Beach. Reggie also directs the City’s Disaster Preparedness Program and its Homeland Security Taskforce, resulting in the annual award of grants totaling over $25 million for equipment, training and administrative support for antiterrorism and mutual aid programs.
Reggie’s management style is a unique blend of organizational efficiencies derived from a 25-year military career; he is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, from the California Army National Guard, and his vast experience in municipal governance.
